Bracknell Forest councillors voted overwhelmingly to approve the application for a filmset in Swinley Forest at the end of Buttersteep Rise. This was despite Windsor and Maidenhead council rejecting a similar proposal on a similar site a few miles away recently. SPAE, CPRE and local residents all objected to the plan on the grounds that any perceived local economic benefits were illusory and would not offset the damage to land in the Green Belt in a special conservation area, much valued as an amenity by neighbours at a time when the Government is encouraging everyone to keep fit.
This is hugely disappointing. The Council’s own planning team had opposed the plan.
